An email I sent to Aura Print:

A pat on the back for you and your team - please pass this on to your team for me….

I wanted to send you a quick email to thank you and your team for doing a quick turn around for me on my order. I needed it urgently, and your friendly and helpfulness - plus of course your efficiency resulted in me being more than satisfied. I will definitely be using you again in the future.

    Thanks very much.

I ordered 2 banners from Aura Print for my dj business. One for on the front of my booth and the other for outdoor public events to put on railings etc. Their website allows you to enter custom sizes of the banner to suit your needs. My booth is 4ft wide so I entered 4ft by 1ft in the appropriate boxes and it gave me the size I wanted at a low price. They sent my banners out by next day delivery and they came super quick. The quality was exceptional and I will be ordering with them again infact i'm designing a new banner now! They also have a thick hem on the banners which is extremely important as they increase the strength of the banner and prolong the life of the banner when used outdoors.

Starting a new business venture – what business stationary and extras do I need?

This entry was posted in by Emma Smith.

Where to start

Firstly, congratulations on your new business venture! We’ve put together some great business stationary ideas to help you establish yourself amongst your target customers. A recognisable, pleasing identity will give your customers a firm idea of who you are and your company values. So, firstly consider the few pointers below.

Establish your company identity

Consider the overall design of your business stationary; whether it be contemporary, classic or vintage. This will form a key part of your business holistically. Thinking about what identity you want to portray is the first step to producing your personal business stationary. Central to this theme is your logo. It might help to think of the demographic you want to target, but remember, a good identity is timeless, not just what’s in now.

Business Stationary

Get in the Flow

Any established company will use consistency in their business stationary. For example, your logo should always remain the same colour, size and scale proportion. This creates an instant familiarity; whether used on a business card, banner or leaflet. Keeping things consistent is key to reinforcing your identity. You’d feel a little off if you were browsing a website and the design changed on a page per page basis, right? The same goes for your business stationary.

So, what do I need to have printed? – A basic Stationary Package

Business cards

Business cards are big news and a key player in your business stationary toolkit. They're tried, tested and can be handed out anywhere, anytime. We’ve even written a blog about the importance of business cards here. Gone are the days of a thin white card with your name and number on being sufficient. If you want to wow and ensure your card is kept and used, there are many impressive printing techniques you can use.

Business Cards

Coloured core  and coloured back cards add a stunning dash of colour. Thick, high quality and hard wearing, these cards are a popular choice. They’re also great at reinforcing your brand as they hint at your company colours.

Metallic foil cards are visually stunning and contemporary. They scream luxury and we see all different types of businesses go for these from law firms to beauty salons.

Gold Foil Business Cards

Soft touch velvet business cards feel amazing and are a joy to receive! They feel warm and are a great conversation starter too.

Recycled Kraft business cards add a rustic touch to your cards and are great for craftspeople or a homemade feel.

The shape of your card is fairly limitless too. Think square or slim. Even square or rounded corners is a choice you should think about.

Always have your cards to hand, immaculately kept in a box to ensure they are in perfect condition. Our business cards come in a clear plastic case, so you can keep them spanking new! Adding your cards in with every order you send out is a cheap, effective way of reminding people how they can keep in contact with you.

Letterheads and envelopes

If you regularly send letters out at work, your logo and contact details should appear on these too. If you send out a lot it might be worth investing in some quality letterheads as part of your business stationary.

Custom stickers can also add a lovely touch to packaging and further personalise your stationary.

So, there’s more…. Brochures and folders

Despite the huge increase in online purchasing, many people still like to look at a hard copy of a brochure. A brochure should explain clearly what you are selling, for how much, where and when. You can display brochures, hand them out, or even post them. They have a great benefit of giving you plenty of room to demonstrate your products visually with plenty of information as relevant.

Folders allow you to add separate pieces of information as relevant at the time, so these are perfect for presentations. They allow you flexibility to update or amend the information you include on the loose material inside. In our opinion, a must have part of your business stationary.

Presentation Folders

If you need help, a graphic designer will be able to assist you in compiling a brochure for your products. At Aura print, we offer a complete design service, with a personal designer you can contact directly to help you produce the perfect stationary package.

Flyers and leaflets

Whilst social media is great for promoting your business, flyers are still a relatively cheap and extremely effective way of reaching your target audience. If your target is local, consider door to door mailing, or putting leaflets in a local newspaper to be distributed. You can even hand out information in the street or in store if you want to engage face to face.

Remember, you want your flyers to stand out and portray your main message clearly. Make sure they match your other business stationary enough to recognise too! You can use both sides to get maximum coverage. Consider folded flyers as an option too (link). A quality print finish makes it more likely your reader will take the message seriously and want to read on. Coupon codes can be a great carrot dangler on flyers; this is also a great way to monitor how effective your campaign has been.

Outdoor and on the move advertising

Have you considered banners for advertising an event? They're not your traditional business stationary tool, but they're great for large scale advertisement for your business. Something we find very popular are themed banners such as car wash banners and school Ofsted rating banners.

PVC Banners

If you’re at a convention, pop up stands are a great option. They’re portable, easy to carry, set up in minutes and are perfect for having a base of operations for exhibiting and drawing in your customers.

Panels are often used for window displays, large and attention grabbing, these can be highly creative and create a theme around which the rest of the display is based.

Taking it step by step

Don’t be overwhelmed by the vast choice of advertising material available to you. As a new business, consider your budget and invest wisely to get the best return. As your business grows, you can always refer to this guide to see what other ideas might work next for you. Good luck with your new venture!
